A week or so ago at a holiday party, I met a man named Steve Caputo. He shared some great information and links with me. They are posted below. He also told me that he once took a botany class with the one and only Gary Lincoff!

..."The scientist I was telling you about is Paul Mankiewicz, who is the director of the Gaia Institute, which is based in City Island. Paul is a visionary but also has lots of experience building ecologically based projects. NYC is working with Gaia to pilot vegetated stormwater management strategies and maybe also composting and bio-remediation. Check out Gaia's website for more information. http://www.gaiainstituteny.org/
The friend that I mentioned to you is Duskin Drum... Here's a link to the mushroom project he did in Yunnan Province, China, at Lijiang Studio, where we met. "

Duskin collaborated on this with his mom, Sarah Lewison (who is an artist and teacher based in Carbondale, Illinois) and our friend Jay Brown who runs Lijiang Studio, as well as others in China. Duskin and his mom have this ongoing collaborative project called KATALOG, which has a nice little manifesto:
